How much time will it take?
Violin lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, typically one day per week. Lesson times are adjusted to the appropriate level depending on the student’s age and skill level. We can discuss which lesson will work best for you. For families with more than one student, I often recommend that all students are present in the lesson; we can then schedule a longer block of time. For two children, for example, the total time could be 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours, with 30 or 45 minutes for each student.
How much does it cost?
Lesson Fees are collected at the beginning of each month. In addition to the weekly violin lesson, you and/or the student may also contact me at any time with questions about a lesson or practice technique at no additional charge.

FAQs
At what age can a child begin to take violin lessons?
The Suzuki philosophy places an emphasis on playing from a very young age, sometimes beginning formal instruction between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. The determination of a child’s readiness for private instruction will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Where does Christopher Souza teach violin lessons?
Chris teaches violin lessons in homes in the Lehigh Valley PA including Allentown, Bath, Bethlehem, Coplay, Easton, Nazareth, Northampton, and Whitehall, PA; the Pocono Mountains, Carbon County, and surrounding Pennsylvania regions including Blakeslee, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Kunkletown, and Palmerton, PA.
Additionally, Chris teaches violin lessons in Stroudsburg, PA, at the Fergus and Clark Academy for the Arts. Families living in the Stroudsburg area (East Stroudsburg, Mount Pocono, PenArgyl, Bangor, Tannersville, Reeders, Delaware Water Gap, Broadheadsville, Mountainhome, PA) are encouraged to enroll in the Fergus and Clark Academy for private violin lessons in a vibrant Suzuki method-based studio.
What is the Suzuki Violin Method?
The basis of the Suzuki method is simple: "Every child can learn." Talent is not inborn, but something that is nurtured through environment and practice. First, it starts with the "Mother Tongue Method." This simply means to learn violin like you would learn a language. Because we are learning violin as a language, we learn to "speak" first, then read. Students will listen to the songs many times as they learn to play.
Note reading is done separate from the violin during the beginning stages, and added in as the playing becomes more natural and easy. Secondly, parent participation is key. Parents are the teachers at home, and will help the student structure their practice.
